- (The Insurer) - Blenheim Partnerships has appointed Ed Parker to lead a new special risks insurance unit set to launch early this summer, the company confirmed to The Insurer.

Parker will build a book of business across consequential loss, political risk, contract frustration and trade credit lines, which Blenheim said would be supported by itself and several following markets.

Peter Scales, CEO of Blenheim Partnerships, told The Insurer: "The addition of Ed to the Blenheim team brings a second highly specialised line to the group’s portfolio this year, following the addition of the bloodstock portfolio led by Tara Woodward."

Scales said the group was continuing to "attract and provide a platform for a high calibre of underwriting expertise that can sometimes get lost in larger organisations".

Parker is set to join Blenheim following a stint as head of the special risks division at Tokio Marine Kiln.

In this role, Parker launched a $95 million trade disruption insurance facility alongside Convex and McGill and Partners, as well as a $50 million business interruption facility for ports and terminals alongside Marsh.

Tokio Marine Kiln declined to comment.
