Canopius adds AIG’s Losquadro in latest senior marine appointment

June 16 - (The Insurer) - Canopius Group has made another senior appointment to its U.S. marine underwriting team with the hire of Tom Losquadro from AIG.

The recruit has joined as vice president of underwriting for national hull and liability U.S.

In that role, Losquadro will lead underwriting for Canopius’ national hull and liability book in the U.S., with a focus on driving the portfolio’s performance, ensuring regulatory compliance, and strengthening market relationships.

Having joined Canopius, Losquadro reports into Neetu Varghese, Canopius’ head of marine U.S.

The recruit brings well over a decade of industry experience to Canopius. He most recently spent more than six years at AIG, where he latterly led the carrier’s hull and liabilities underwriting team with a focus on large corporate and middle-market marine risks across the Northeast U.S.

Prior to joining AIG in 2019, Losquadro spent almost nine years at Marsh.

Losquadro’s hire is the latest senior marine appointment Canopius has made in recent months, with the carrier having named Varghese as head of marine U.S. in May.
