Australia raises with US issue of journalist injured during Los Angeles protests

ReutersJun 10, 2025 3:42 AM

- Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese on Tuesday said images of an Australian journalist being injured during protests in the U.S. city of Los Angeles were "horrific" and that his government had contacted the U.S. over the incident.

"We have already raised these issues with the U.S. administration. We don't find it acceptable that it occurred," Albanese told reporters.

Australia's 9News U.S. reporter Lauren Tomasi was hit by a rubber bullet in Los Angeles on Sunday during protests against U.S. President Donald Trump's immigration policies.

"I'm a bit sore, but I'm okay. Important we keep on telling the stories that need to be told," Tomasi said in a post on X.
