June 5 - (The Insurer) - RT Specialty has hired former Flow Specialty executive David Derigiotis to lead its newly opened Detroit office.
Derigiotis has joined the specialty wholesale unit of Ryan Specialty as executive vice president and office president.
Described by RT Specialty as “an accomplished executive and leader in wholesale insurance”, Derigiotis will serve within the firm’s professional and executive liability practice group RT ProExec.
RT Specialty’s CEO Ed McCormack hailed Derigiotis as “a true expert and innovator in cyber, professional and management liability insurance”.
“Detroit has been a rapidly expanding market for RT Specialty, and we are excited to open an office there to further serve our Detroit-area clients,” McCormack added.
Derigiotis’ move to RT Specialty comes after E&S Insurer exclusively reported in May that he had left Munich Re Ventures-backed Flow Specialty along with the rest of the insurtech SME wholesaler’s 12-strong team of producers.
Prior to leaving Flow Specialty, Derigiotis had served as brokerage president.
Derigiotis joined Flow Specialty in April 2024 after a year as president of insurtech Embroker and 14 years at Burns & Wilcox.
He was previously a professional liability underwriter at Argo and Markel.
