NATO allies are near consensus on 5% commitment, says Hegseth

BRUSSELS, June 5 (Reuters) - NATO allies are nearing a consensus on committing 5% of GDP to defence spending, U.S. Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth told reporters on Thursday.
"Countries in there are well exceeding 2% and we think very close, almost near consensus, on a 5 pct commitment to NATO," said Hegseth, who is in Brussels for a NATO Defence Ministers meeting.
