Japan tariff negotiator Akazawa will meet Bessent for tariff talks on May 30

TOKYO, May 30 (Reuters) - Japan's top tariff negotiator Ryosei Akazawa said that he plans to meet U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent and others for the next round of Japan-U.S. talks on Friday in Washington D.C.
Akazawa also told reporters that the talks will be held based on the understanding of deepening mutual trust between Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and President Trump developed through phone talks over two consecutive weeks.
