Descartes adds operations and claims leaders Bassoulet and Collet-Jones

May 22 - (The Insurer) - Parametric specialist Descartes Underwriting has appointed Sophie Bassoulet as head of operations and Kelly Collet-Jones as claims manager, the company said on Thursday.
Bassoulet was previously operations manager at French health insurer Alan after positions at McKinsey and Axa Global Direct. Collet-Jones spent more than 10 years in claims management roles at Chubb after previously working at loss adjuster Cunningham Lindsey France.
Both Bassoulet and Collet-Jones will report to chief operating officer Violaine Raybaud. The company said the appointments are focused on enhancing its efficiency and quality of service to clients and brokers as the business continues to grow.
Founded in 2018 and based in Paris, Descartes Underwriting provides corporate insurance for global weather and natural catastrophe perils as an MGA. In December 2022 it launched full-stack insurer Descartes Insurance, which has a licence in several European countries.
The group wrote more than $200 million in premiums in 2024, it said in February.
