- (The Insurer) - Pivix Specialty Insurance Services has added Michael Gramm to its ranks with the recruit joining the company to launch a new wholesale brokerage unit.

Having joined Scottsdale, Arizona-based Pivix, Gramm has been appointed senior vice president and chief underwriting office for brokerage.

In that role, Program Manager understands that Gramm will support the build-out of a wholesale broking platform that will complement the Canopius capacity-backed E&S property and casualty binding authority unit that Pivix brought to market last year.

Gramm has moved to Pivix, an MGA which sits with within Ambac’s insurance distribution-focused division Cirrata, having previously been a senior vice president at Futuristic Underwriters.

He had joined Futuristic Underwriters at the MGA’s launch in 2023 and spearheaded the technology-enabled platform’s entry into various contractor, manufacturer and distributor, real estate owner and operator, professional service organisation and transportation fleet segments.

Prior to joining Futuristic Underwriters, Gramm was senior vice president of insurance at fleet management technology platform Idelic.

Before joining Idelic in early 2022, Gramm spent four years at Hallmark, latterly as senior vice president within its commercial auto team.

Gramm’s career also includes E&S casualty-focused roles at Navigators and XL Catlin, along with stints at Markel, All Risk and Midwestern Risk Specialists, among others.

Pivix launched in September last year by surplus lines market veteran Mike Miller, a former president of Nationwide’s Scottsdale Insurance Company.

During his career, Miller also launched Ategrity Specialty Insurance Company in 2018 and led the business until his departure at the end of 2022.

Working at Pivix alongside CEO and president Miller are fellow founders Ken Levine, Joe Griffith and Sandy Vertuno, all of whom also previously worked at Nationwide’s E&S business.
