May 19 (Reuters) - U.S. Vice President JD Vance said on Monday that Washington recognized the impasse over talks regarding Russia's war in Ukraine as President Donald Trump prepared to hold talks with the leaders of both countries.
"We realize there's a bit of an impasse here. And I think the president's going to say to (Russian) President (Vladimir) Putin: 'Look, are you serious? Are you real about this?'" Vance told reporters as he prepared to depart Italy following his meeting with the Pope. Vance added that he had just spoken to Trump.
