Willemsen leaves Accelerant to launch Willemsen Advisors

May 15 - (The Insurer) - John Willemsen, former head of distribution U.S. and member at Accelerant Holdings, has launched Willemsen Advisors, a consultancy focused on advising MGAs, private equity firms, insurance wholesalers and TPAs that want to scale.
Willemsen announced on LinkedIn that he left Accelerant in January and has been serving founder of Willemsen Advisors since.
He joined Accelerant in 2020, as the company worked to launch U.S. platform that would include the establishment of its own risk-bearing carriers, The Insurer reported at the time.
Willemsen, who has 30 years of experience in the industry, is the former head of programs and chief business development officer at Arch and has also spent more than a decade at Munich Re America, focusing on the programs and MGA space.
Accelerant declined to comment.
