- (The Insurer) - Zurich North America has hired Rob Walsh as head of large contract surety, the second hire from Chubb that it has announced this week.

In his new role, which is effective immediately, Walsh will be responsible for driving the overall success of Zurich’s large contract surety portfolio and will report to head of surety Chris Nolan.

San Francisco Bay area-based Walsh has more than 30 years of experience in the industry.

He joins Zurich from Chubb, where his most recent position was vice president and regional surety manager for the San Francisco Bay Area and Pacific Northwest region.

Zurich Surety is part of the specialties business unit led by Kelly Kinzer at Zurich North America, and is one of the top writers of surety bonds in the U.S.

Zurich North America earlier this week announced the hire of Bennett Himes, former vice president and casualty leader for Chubb’s middle market division, as head of underwriting in the U.S. middle market.
