Augment Risk adds Akbar as associate partner for structured reinsurance

May 13 - (The Insurer) - Augment Risk has hired alternative risk transfer specialist Qasim Akbar as associate partner for structured reinsurance, according to a LinkedIn post by Akbar on Monday.
Akbar was most recently managing director of Aelia Capital, an advisory firm working on structured transactions with (re)insurers, captives, MGAs and investment managers.
He also co-founded parametric startup Innovatrix Capital, which specialises in risk transfer solutions for the life sciences sector, in 2021. Akbar's past experience includes roles at MGA Alt Capacity and Gallagher Re.
Akbar is the latest alternative risk transfer specialist to be hired by challenger reinsurance broker Augment, which has built out capabilities for captives, parametrics and structured solutions since its launch in 2023.
