BERLIN, May 13 (Reuters) - German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on Tuesday played down expectations that Europe will immediately slap fresh sanctions on Russia, referring instead to a potential meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian leaders on Thursday.
"I am looking to Thursday when a meeting of the Russian and the Ukrainian side may take place," Wadephul said in Berlin.
He was responding to a question on when European leaders would follow through on their threat to slap fresh sanctions on Moscow after it did not agree to an immediate ceasefire in Ukraine on Monday.
