
JERUSALEM, May 12 (Reuters) - Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke on Monday with Donald Trump after meeting with the U.S. president's Middle East envoy and ambassador to Israel, Netanyahu's office said in a statement.
Netanyahu thanked Trump for his assistance with the expected release of Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander, who has been held by Hamas militants in Gaza, the statement said. Trump reiterated his call for close cooperation with Netanyahu, it said.
