Israel not committed to ceasefire with Hamas, only to safe corridor for release of Edan Alexander, Netanyahu says

May 12 (Reuters) - Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel did not commit to any ceasefire or prisoners' release with Hamas, but only to a safe corridor that would allow Israeli-American hostage Edan Alexander's release, a statement from Netanyahu's office said early on Monday.
Alexander will soon be released in Gaza, a senior Hamas official told Reuters on Sunday, a move key Arab mediators Qatar and Egypt described as an encouraging step towards a return to ceasefire talks in the war-torn enclave.
