ANKARA, May 9 (Reuters) - The Kurdish PKK militant group held a congress on May 5-7 in northern Iraq, following a call from its imprisoned leader Abdullah Ocalan for the group's dissolution, the Firat news agency reported the PKK as saying on Friday.
Firat, affiliated with the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), published a statement from the group saying it had made "historic" decisions, and that detailed information regarding the decisions would be shared with the public "very soon."
The group did not elaborate on whether it decided to disarm or disband. Turkey's pro-Kurdish DEM Party said earlier on Friday it was only a matter of time before the PKK announced it had convened its congress, a move seen as a key step in resolving the decades-long conflict.
