- (The Insurer) - Sompo has appointed Nicholas Walsh as an independent non-executive chairman of its board of directors for Sompo International Holdings, succeeding James Shea, who was appointed CEO of Sompo P&C in April.

Walsh, who has been an independent non-executive director of SIH since June 2022, spent 42 years with AIG, holding numerous leadership positions. He retired in 2014 as vice chairman of AIG Property and Casualty and previously served as executive vice president of AIG and CEO of AIG’s international general insurance business, as well as chair of several AIG regional companies.

"(Walsh's) new appointment comes at an exciting time for Sompo as we continue to expand our business around the world. We look forward to continuing to benefit from his guidance and insights, helping us put our customers and trading partners even more at the center of everything we do," Shea said.

Additionally, Monica Cramér Manhem has been appointed as an independent non-executive director and Yoshihiro Uotani, Sompo Group chief risk officer, has been appointed as a non-executive director to the board of directors of SIH.
