Gallagher names Picton as head of energy transition
By Rebecca Delaney
May 6 - (The Insurer) - Gallagher has appointed Ian Picton to the newly created role of head of energy transition.
In his new role, Picton is responsible for supporting Gallagher's energy clients that are already operating in the low-carbon and renewable energy space, as well as clients that are currently transitioning from traditional energy solutions.
This includes providing specialist risk management and insurance advice for clients in the transition space.
The team will act as a specialist resource within Gallagher's energy practice, with Picton reporting to managing partner Matt Byatt.
He will also work closely with Gallagher’s climate solutions division, which was launched in June last year. The division's London-based specialty operations are led by James Bosley as head of climate strategy, carbon insurance and parametric solutions.
Picton will also work with the firm's captive specialists, as clients increasingly explore alternatives to traditional insurance products.
Having most recently served as executive partner, upstream energy, Picton joined Gallagher in January 2021 as head of UK energy retail.
Prior to that, he held energy underwriting roles at Argenta and XL Catlin, both based in Singapore.
