- (The Insurer) – Marsh has announced the appointment of Jim Dunn from Aon as its new U.S. construction practice leader, effectively replacing Rob McDonough in the role, who left to join Aon earlier this year.

In a statement Monday coinciding with Riskworld 2025 in Chicago, Marsh said Dunn will report to Michael Pellegrini, U.S. and Canada specialty leader for the broker.

In his new role, Dunn will guide Marsh’s efforts to assist U.S.-based construction clients “in navigating the complexities of a rapidly evolving industry by delivering innovative risk management advice and insurance solutions that support their goals and long-term success,” said the statement.

He was most recently chief commercial officer for U.S. construction and infrastructure at Aon, having joined the intermediary in 2010, after holding positions with Allied North America and Consolidated Risk Solutions during a 30-year career in the industry.

Commenting on the appointment, Pellegrini said: “Jim is an exceptional leader and passionate risk advisor whose expertise and experience will benefit both clients and colleagues. Under his leadership, we are well-positioned to help our construction clients continue to build the confidence they need to thrive in today’s challenging risk environment.”

Dunn added: “Marsh’s depth of expertise within the construction industry, unique insurance solutions, market knowledge, and industry-leading analytics and predictive modeling engines are world class. I look forward to leading this talented group of specialists in helping our clients navigate risks, optimize their capital, and achieve their strategic objectives in an ever-evolving landscape.”

As previously reported, McDonough joined Aon from Marsh in March as CEO of construction, infrastructure and surety, North America, with Brian Hodges also moving over as head of surety, North America.

Marsh subsequently sued Aon and McDonough over the hire of a team of 20.
