White House: Trump envoy Witkoff will visit Russia this week for Putin talks

WASHINGTON, April 22 (Reuters) - U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff will travel to Russia for talks later this week with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Tuesday.
Leavitt said "we're hopefully moving in the right direction" on Ukraine while noting U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed frustrations with both Russia and Ukraine in his drive to seal a halt to the fighting.
