LA PLATA, Argentina, April 18 (Reuters) - River Plate ended a run of four consecutive draws with a 3-0 win at Gimnasia La Plata in the Argentine Primera Division Apertura tournament on Friday.
The visitors struggled to break down Gimnasia's defence early on before taking the lead through Sebastian Driussi's close-range strike 10 minutes before the break.
Franco Mastantuono doubled River Plate's advantage with a neat finish from Driussi's pass before Rodrigo Aliendro added the third eight minutes from time.
River Plate are third in Group B on 25 points, with Gimnasia 12th on 13.
