Bessent urges Spain to increase defense spending in meeting with economy minister

April 15 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent highlighted the need for Spain to increase defense spending in the context of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) during a meeting with Spanish Economy Minister Carlos Cuerpo on Tuesday, the U.S. Treasury Department said in a statement.

Bessent also reiterated the United States' opposition to the digital services tax levied by Spain and other countries, the statement said.
