WASHINGTON, April 10 (Reuters) - The United States and Vietnam have agreed to begin formal discussions on reciprocal trade, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on Thursday after a meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Duc Phoc.
"During their talks, Secretary Bessent emphasized the importance of continued engagement with trade partners, and the need for quick, demonstrable progress to resolve outstanding issues," according to a Treasury statement a day after the U.S. paused the implementation of global "reciprocal" tariffs, including a 46% levy on Vietnam.
