Merz: my message to Trump is Germany is back on track

BERLIN, April 9 (Reuters) - The key message for U.S. President Donald Trump is that Germany is back, said chancellor designate Friedrich Merz on Wednesday after his conservatives and the Social Democrats unveiled their coalition agreement.
"Germany will fulfil the obligations in terms of defence, and Germany is willing to strengthen their own competitiveness," said Merz, who added that Europe needed a common response to Trump and China's tariff policies.
