LONDON, April 9 (Reuters) - Barclays has appointed former Centerview Partners executive Andrew Woeber as its global head of mergers and acquisitions, the bank said on Wednesday.
Woeber will be based in New York and report to Cathal Deasy and Taylor Wright, the lender's co-heads of investment banking, Barclays BARC.L said.
The appointment comes as the British bank tries to gain market share in global mergers, amid a broader initiative to increase fee-based income in its investment bank and compete with Wall Street rivals that dominate the market.
Barclays in February raised its performance targets for 2025 as its investment bank grew income amid a rise in dealmaking activity.
