Ageas Re adds Scor’s Monfared for engineering entry

April 4 - (The Insurer) - Ageas Re, the reinsurance arm of Belgian insurance group Ageas, has launched an engineering practice led by Shahrokh Shahpoori Monfared.

Monfared has joined Ageas Re after almost five years at French reinsurer Scor, where he served as treaty underwriting manager with responsibility for engineering clients across the UK, Switzerland, Central and Eastern Europe, and Middle East and Africa.

Prior to Scor, he held senior engineering underwriting roles at Axis Re.

Monfared will join Ageas Re's Zurich office on May 1.

Ageas Re hired long-serving PartnerRe underwriter Jeremy Lilburn in March as co-head of its newly launched credit and bond offering.

Parent company Ageas in February reported that net operating profit at its reinsurance unit jumped by 62% in 2024, which helped drive a group-level earnings and profit beat.
