White House: Force should not be used to change Taiwan strait's status quo

April 1 (Reuters) - The White House on Tuesday said there should be no unilateral attempts to change the status quo across the Taiwan strait including by force or coercion, after China staged military drills off Taiwan's north, south and east coasts.

"We remain committed to maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait, and encourage the peaceful resolution of cross-strait issues," a White House National Security spokesperson said.
