Chubb launches Poliseno-led North America small and middle market unit

March 12 - (The Insurer) - Chubb has combined its North America lower middle market and digital small business divisions into a single unit under the leadership of Rob Poliseno.

Called North America Small & Lower Midmarket, the unit integrates Chubb’s decades-long underwriting experience in the lower middle market with the agility and speed of its digital small business division, explained Juan Luis Ortega, executive vice president at Chubb Group, and president of Chubb North America.

"The small business and lower middle market segments present significant growth and expansion opportunities for Chubb,” said Ortega.

“As the distribution landscape continues to evolve, agents and brokers increasingly demand simplicity, efficient and fast underwriting, and seamless digital experiences,” the executive added.

Ben Rockwell, division president of Chubb North America middle market, said launching the small and lower middle market business represents an important milestone in how the company supports the industry segment.

"Rob and Jason will build on their successes in this space, leveraging our investments in a modern, automated and data-centric digital operating model that differentiates our approach to a wide range of companies across all industry practices and positions this business for robust growth,” said Rockwell.

“This division will offer more seamless coverage through a comprehensive suite of products and services, including P&C, financial lines, cyber, multinational, and accident and health, while offering agents the options of either a fully digital/automated experience or a digitally augmented service model,” Rockwell added.

Poliseno steps up into his new role having spent the past 17 years at Chubb, latterly as the carrier’s division president, small business and North America digital.

As division president, small and lower midmarket, Poliseno reports to middle market president Rockwell.

Chubb said that during Poliseno’s more than 28-year industry career, he has developed a strong background in insurance underwriting and distribution, backed by a proven track record of operational excellence.

That experience positions him well to lead Chubb's small and lower midmarket business, the company said.

Alongside Poliseno, Chubb has also promoted Jason Ranucci to COO, small and lower midmarket.

Ranucci reports to Poliseno.

As COO of the unit, Ranucci has broad operating responsibility, including P&L management and oversight of both field and home office underwriting, along with product, pricing, portfolio management and analytics.

Ranucci has more than 17 years of insurance industry experience, and most recently served Chubb as head of North America lower middle market.
