March 3 - (The Insurer) - Hybrid fronting insurer Bridgehaven Specialty UK has continued to bolster its leadership team with the addition of Giles Taylor.
The appointment is effective immediately, subject to regulatory approval.
Taylor previously spent 16 years at Lloyd's, latterly serving as chief risk officer for Lloyd’s Europe. In this role, he led the authorisation process of the firm, established risk management and compliance frameworks across the UK and EU, and spearheaded initiatives across recovery planning and market oversight.
Prior to Lloyd's, he held compliance and business development roles at Ace (now Chubb) for nine years.
Taylor's appointment to Bridgehaven takes its total number of personnel to 23, following its launch in July 2023 as the UK’s first risk-taking – or hybrid – fronting carrier.
The company, which is led by former AIG, Towergate and Chartis executive Paul Jewell, supports MGAs and programs that write commercial and specialty insurance business.
Bridgehaven said it currently has 10 MGAs under management and 300 million pounds ($380 million) in written binder premium.
Other recent developments include the appointment of Doug Humberstone as head of claims, penning a two-year co-insurance arrangement with UK personal lines MGA Policy Expert, and agreeing a capacity deal with Howden-backed MGA Spring Insure.
