ReutersFeb 27, 2025 10:42 PM

- Mexico's foreign ministry said on Thursday its top security officials had a cordial, productive meeting with U.S. counterparts in Washington, and agreed to take joint actions to fight organized crime in both countries.

Officials from Mexico's security cabinet traveled to the U.S. capital to discuss security as its northern neighbor threatens to impose blanket tariffs if Mexico does not do more to stop migrants and the opioid fentanyl from reaching the border.

The coordinated actions should be taken in the coming weeks and months, the ministry said, adding they aimed to tamp down on deaths due to fentanyl and illegally trafficked weapons.
