BERLIN, Feb 24 (Reuters) - Germany's conservative CDU leader Friedrich Merz said on Monday he hopes to convince Americans that it is in their mutual interest to have good transatlantic relations.
When asked about a quick reform of the country's debt brake, he said the Bundestag lower house of parliament was always capable of acting.
"The German Bundestag is able to make decisions at any time... I will discuss this with the parties that still have a mandate in the German Bundestag," he said.
