DEFENCE SPENDING

Defence spending was, is and will be Poland's priority, it defines all other investments, because they only make sense when Poland is safe and that is why Poland will spend as much on defence as necessary and for as long as necessary, Finance Minister Andrzej Domanski told public radio on Friday.

SECURITY

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on Thursday for enhanced air policing, stronger Baltic defences and reinforced European Union borders with Russia, citing growing security concerns.

DEBT

On Friday at 1030 GMT the Finance Ministry will hold an auction of 52-week Treasury bills worth 2.0-4.0 billion zlotys ($504.2-$1.0 billion).

BANKS

In 2024, Polish banks earned a record 42 billion zlotys ($10.6 billion), which is 50% more than the previous year. However, the tax they paid amounted to 13.3 billion zlotys ($3.4 billion), which is slightly less than in 2023, Rzeczpospolita daily reported.
