Poland - Factors to Watch Feb 20

ROCKET OVER POLAND

Poland has received information that another potential object may enter the atmosphere over 12 European countries, including Poland, on Thursday.

The object is part of a launch vehicle launched on February 8 as part of a commercial mission by Kinesis, which took off from New Zealand, said Jacek Dobrzynski, spokesman for the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on Wednesday evening.

An unidentified object was found near Poznan on Wednesday, and Poland's space agency POLSA is looking into whether it is debris from Elon Musk's SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

DATA

On Thursday at 1000, the statistics office will release data on wages, employment and industrial output for January.

Analysts polled by Reuters expect employment to have fallen 0.7% year-on-year, wages to have risen 9.3% and industrial output to have fallen 1.4%.

NATIONAL SECURITY COUNCIL

During a National Security Council meeting on Monday, President Andrzej Duda will present information on his recent meetings with representatives of the American administration, the head of the Chancellery of the President, Malgorzata Paprocka, said on Thursday on catholic TV Trwam.

ENERGA

As part of the National Recovery Plan, Energa ENGP.WA, a company belonging to the Orlen group PKN.WA, received a 7.66 billion zlotys ($1.91 billion) loan for the development of smart power grids.

AVIATION MARKET IN POLAND

Poland is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in Europe. In 2024, Polish airports served a record 59.5 million passengers, which was 13% more than in 2023, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported.
