Feb 18 - (The Insurer) - New York-based startup Pierson Ferdinand has appointed M&A insurance lawyers Andrew Shapiro and Jason Dubner to launch and lead the law firm's transactional liability insurance practice.
The new practice is meant to assist insurance carriers and their managing agents with complex claims arising from representations and warranties, tax indemnity, and litigation risk insurance policies.
Both Shapiro and Dubner join Piersen Ferdinand from Am Law 50 firm Holland & Knight, where they worked within the representations and warranties insurance (RWI) team. Before that, the duo built out and co-chaired the RWI practice at Am Law 200 firm Porter Wright Morris & Arthur, carving out a space for themselves as go-to claims counsel for many RWI carriers and their agents.
They bring experience in commercial litigation and arbitration involving post-M&A disputes, reinsurance matters, and antitrust claims.
Shapiro and Dubner are based in Chicago and licensed to practice in Illinois.
Additionally, Shapiro is licensed to appear before the US Court of Appeals for the Third and Seventh Circuits, US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois (Trial Bar), and the US District Court for the Central District of Illinois. Dubner is a member of the Commercial Panel of the AAA National Roster of Arbitrators and Mediators.
In October 2024, the law firm appointed Rachel Rivers as a partner in its cyber-risk, privacy and data security practice.
