Feb 18 - (The Insurer) - Apollo has expanded into drone product liability cover by providing capacity as part of its existing binder with Lloyd's coverholder and specialist MGA Moonrock Drone Insurance.
The cover is available globally for drone product manufacturers.
Moonrock was launched in September 2021 with the UK’s first dedicated drone insurance policy for hobbyists and recreational use, underwritten by Munich Re Innovation Syndicate.
The drone coverage specialist secured Lloyd's coverholder status in May last year, which Moonrock partially credited to sponsorship by long-term insurance partner Apollo.
The two firms had previously teamed up to launch a drone insurance facility in February 2023 to provide coverage for larger commercial drone operations.
Commenting on the latest partnership, Martin Jackson, class leader for aviation at Apollo, hailed the insurance opportunity and momentum in a “dynamic market”.
“We’ve officially expanded into drone product manufacturers' legal liability, securing policies already with more in the pipeline as our business grows,” he said.
