WASHINGTON, Feb 17 (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hesgeth on Monday posted an image of a tax audit notice that appeared to show he owed $33,558.16 in taxes and accused the former Biden administration of targeting him.
"Of course the outgoing Biden IRS rushed and "audit" of the incoming SedDef," he said in a post of X. "Total sham."
The Pentagon and the Internal Revenue Services did not immediately respond to a request for comment. It is unclear when the notice was sent to Hegseth and his wife Jennifer and if they have paid the amount.
