Timby launches new Accelerant-backed motor truck cargo program

Feb 14 - Timby Specialty Insurance Solutions has added a motor truck cargo program to its product suite.

The new offering, which can be written on both admitted and non-admitted bases, is the second program to be offered by inland marine-focused Timby and complements its existing contractor’s equipment coverage.

As with that contractor’s equipment coverage, the newly launched motor truck cargo program is also backed by AM Best A- rated capacity provided by Accelerant.

“Hauling cargo comes with risks – unexpected claims can disrupt operations of any size!” said Timby regarding the new program.

“Our flexible policy options are designed to safeguard your motor carrier's legal liability for the property of others while it's on the move,” it added.

Timby’s motor truck program provides coverage for the legal liability of common and contract motor carriers for third party-owned cargo when it is being hauled or transported.

Former Vindati CEO Tyler Van Spanje launched data and technology-driven specialty MGA Timby in 2021.

Timby was the second operation to launch on the Altamont Capital-backed MGA platform Mission Underwriters.

As Van Spanje told Program Manager at Timby’s launch, the company “is going to be very much an innovative, primarily inland marine-focused MGA that leverages technology and data”.

“It’s being built out to solve challenging coverage problems combined with a very streamlined experience for our brokers and customers,” he added at the time.
