Farmers adds Gallagher's Toohey as head of agency owner operations

- (The Insurer) - Farmers Insurance has appointed Erik Toohey, former corporate vice president of US finance at Gallagher, as its head of agency owner operations.

Toohey, who has over 25 years of experience in the industry, has held roles at Kemper, Berkely One, Travelers, and Cigna.

In his new role at Farmers, he will be responsible for the overall strategy of the exclusive agent distribution channel, modernise processes and support the immediate achievement of territory results. He will also partner with regional presidents to streamline and set up centralised services like contract administration, agent compensation and recognition, agency development, sales campaigns, and training programs.

He will report to Ken Walton, president of distribution and chief revenue officer at Farmers.

"[Toohey's] impressive background, marked by significant accomplishments and strategic leadership in the insurance sector, positions him as an ideal fit for our leadership team," Walton said. "I have every confidence that he will deliver in helping us achieve our aggressive goals for expanding our agency force and growing our customer base."
