Treasury chief to oversee US consumer finance watchdog agency, CFPB says

WASHINGTON, Feb 3 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent will also serve as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the agency said in a statement on Monday.
The move comes after U.S. President Donald Trump over the weekend fired the Rohit Chopra, who had been leading the U.S. watchdog agency for consumer finance, according to sources.
