Jan 30 (Reuters) - The Russian embassy in Washington sent condolences on Thursday to families of the dead in a crash near Reagan Washington National Airport and expressed gratitude to U.S. authorities for an offer to send the remains of Russian victims back to their homeland.
"It is with particular regret that we have learned from the White House that Russian citizens were aboard the aircraft," the embassy said in a note on Telegram.
"We are grateful to American authorities, with whom we remain in constant contact, for their condolences to families of the dead, for words of support and their readiness to help transfer remains to their homeland."
