- (The Insurer) - Industrial lines insurer HDI Global UK has bolstered its captive insurance offering with the appointment of Dan Sammons as captives manager.

Sammons brings extensive experience in international programs, captives and alternative risk transfer to the newly created role.

The appointment is effect from 3 February 2025. He will report to Oliver Davies, chief distribution officer at HDI Global UK and Ireland.

Sammons joins HDI following almost 20 years at AIG, where he held a variety of roles across the insurer's alternative risk transfer and captive underwriting units. He most recently served as head of alternative risk solutions UK.

“Captives is a core part of HDI’s extensive value proposition,” commented Davies. “I am thrilled to welcome Dan to HDI to lead our captives growth strategy across the UK and Ireland and further cement HDI’s position as a global leader in captives and alternative risk transfer.”

In October 2024, HDI Global named Eric Joly-Pottuz as head of HDI Enablers, the insurer’s alternative risk transfer division, succeeding the retired Etienne de Varax.

The Paris-based unit’s offering includes parametric (re)insurance, captive reinsurance, virtual captives and other structured solutions.
