France's Barrot calls for international mission in Gaza in second phase of ceasefire

PARIS, Jan 24 (Reuters) - An international assistance mission for the Gaza strip should be considered once Israeli troops withdraw as part of the second phase of the ceasefire accord, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot told reporters on Friday.
The three-phased ceasefire agreement between Israel and the Palestinian militant group is set to stop a 15-month-old war that has decimated the Gaza strip, killing thousands of Palestinians and destabilising the region.
