Spain's PM Sanchez: social media erode democratic system

DAVOS, Jan 22 (Reuters) - Spain's Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez told the World Economic Forum in Davos on Wednesday that social media were eroding the democratic system by promoting misinformation, and called for social media owners to be held accountable.
He said owners of social media platforms were unwilling to stop fostering misinformation and said he would propose an EU council meeting to end anonymity on social media and make algorithms more transparent.
