France's relations with U.S. President Trump are "transactional", government spokesperson

PARIS, Jan 22 (Reuters) - France's relations with U.S. President Donald Trump are "transactional", the French government spokesperson said on Wednesday.
"Neither Europe nor the USA has any interest in a trade escalation. We have entered a new phase of negotiations with the U.S.," French government spokesperson Sophie Primas told reporters on Wednesday.
She added that Europe must have the same resolve as the USA and must assert its power.
