Jan 21 (Reuters) - Matthew Friestedt, who led the executive compensation group at Sullivan & Cromwell, is joining rival firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison as a partner, according to an internal Paul Weiss memo viewed by Reuters.
Friestedt, based in New York, has advised on the executive compensation and benefits components of large mergers and acquisitions, including AT&T's acquisition of Time Warner and Bayer's acquisition of Monsanto.
A Sullivan & Cromwell spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Paul Weiss earlier this month hired Damian Williams, the former top federal prosecutor in Manhattan. It has also recently added prominent dealmakers from other firms in the United States and London.
Andrew Finch, who co-led the antitrust practice at Paul Weiss, left the firm on Tuesday for rival law firm Cravath, Swaine & Moore.
