EU Council president says US safety concerns over Greenland should be dealt with by NATO
RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan 16 (Reuters) - If the United States sees a security issue in Greenland, it should be resolved between NATO members as allies, the president of the European Council, Antonio Costa, said on Friday.
"The security concerns that the United States has will be properly addressed in the appropriate forum, which is within the NATO environment," Costa said during a press conference in Rio de Janeiro.
Costa and European Commission Chief Ursula von der Leyen are in South America to sign the EU's trade agreement with Mercosur on Saturday in Paraguay.
