Brazil VP says court orders on Bolsonaro should not derail US tariff talks
BRASILIA, July 18 (Reuters) - Brazil's Vice-President Geraldo Alckmin said on Friday that search warrants and restraining orders issued by the Supreme Court earlier in the day against former President Jair Bolsonaro should not compromise Brazil's tariff talks with the U.S.
U.S. President Donald Trump has pitched a 50% tariff against Brazil as a pressure tactic to help Bolsonaro.
Alckmin told journalists in Brasilia that the operation against Bolsonaro, which banned him from contacting foreign officials over allegations he courted Trump's interference, is a matter for the judiciary branch.
