PFIZER COVID SHOTS
A Belgian court on Wednesday ordered Poland and Romania to take delivery of 1.9 billion euros ($2.2 billion) worth of COVID-19 vaccines made by Pfizer PFE.N and BioNTech 22UAy.DE in a case brought by the U.S. drugmaker three years ago.
FISCAL WATCHDOG
Poland's government measures to lower fuel prices were poorly aimed and expensive, causing risks for inflation and, if extended until year-end, making a budget amendment likely, the Polish Fiscal Council said on Wednesday.
GENERAL GOVERNMENT DEFICIT
In 2025, Poland's general government deficit rose to 7.2% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from 6.4% a year earlier, the statistical office (GUS) reported on Wednesday, citing preliminary data.
The deficit turned out to be higher than forecasts by the government, the European Commission and rating agencies and, according to experts, it is an argument for a faster consolidation of public finances, Dziennik Gazeta Prawna daily reported.
ORLEN
Polish state-owned refiner Orlen PKN.WA said on Wednesday it has signed a preliminary deal with Polish state-controlled chemicals group Grupa Azoty ATTP.WA to acquire all the remaining shares in its Grupa Azoty Polyolefins unit.
