Fed's Powell says central bank humble about tariff pass through

March 18 (Reuters) - Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said Wednesday that while there’s an expectation the tariff impact on inflation will wane over time, there is a lot of uncertainty on how that will all play out.

In a press conference following the latest Fed meeting, Powell said “we have to be humble about knowing how long it will take for tariffs to go all the way through the economy,” and that’s exacerbated by shifting import tax levels amid recent court action.
