WASHINGTON, Feb 25 (Reuters) - It's not clear that the rollout of artificial intelligence will necessarily displace large numbers of workers, Richmond Fed president Tom Barkin said on Wednesday, noting that the technology will also allow people to train to do new jobs and tasks.
"We immediately jump to the notion that a bunch of people are going to be displaced," Barkin said at a Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce event. "We should also remember people are going to be enabled," and for example fill open jobs they would not otherwise qualify for, potentially helping the job market become more efficient.
